Meeting people in Calgary can start with something simple: a walk, a conversation or a small gathering near home. We’re building a place where neighbours can discover shared interests and make local plans without having to organise a big occasion.

Whether you’ve just moved here or have lived on the same street for years, there is room for another connection. Our events and community features are being tested so that the details of a plan — what, where and when — are easy to understand before you decide to take part.

A neighbourhood exchange can put useful things back into use. HeyNeibo is exploring ways for Calgary neighbours to give away, lend and find items nearby, with clear descriptions and practical conversations about the exchange.

A spare chair might suit someone settling into a new home. A borrowed tool might save a one-off purchase. We’re testing how people describe an item, agree on expectations and arrange the next step. The public marketplace is not open yet; these examples explain the experience we are working towards.

Sometimes the most helpful answer comes from someone who knows the same neighbourhood. We want to make it easier to ask a specific local question, offer a skill or find a recommendation relevant to everyday life nearby.

The aim is to connect people who have something useful to share while leaving everyone free to choose how they participate. Recommendations will not be a guarantee of a provider’s qualifications or quality. Clear expectations, privacy controls and ways to ask for help are part of the product we are developing.
